Completely useless

You know the feeling when your body is craving something in particular, but you just can't name, in particular, what that is? Consequently, you look in the fridge, the cupboards, your purse...looking, searching,..for that one treat that will put your mind and body at complete ease.

"Do I need chocolate? Ice Cream? Pickles? Smoked Oysters? A piece of bread with LOTS of butter?"

Well, that is how I am feeling today. But not about what to eat. But what to write.

I know I need to write something on my blog. I feel it. My fingers are twitching. My thoughts are running rampant. I am uneasy. I need my "fix."

So, sitting down to my computer. Here I am. Writing.

I am going to go with whatever thought comes to my mind. A stream of sub-conscious thought, if you will. No pre-thought or post-thought to the matter. Just thought.

So here we go.....

I love September. Yes, I love the cool mornings. The gentle breeze that rolls in the afternoons and brings the fragrant smell from the river down below my place. The hint of yellow on the leaves which signals a time of seasonal limbo...it's neither cold nor hot...summer nor really fall...it is somewhere in between. I love hearing the birds sing as I wake and the crickets chirp as I return to my bed. I love eating squash.

I was thinking that I don't appreciate these simple things in life like I should. I mean there are plenty of "important" things to be pre-occupied with...work, housework, homework...but isn't life about more than those things? Shouldn't life be enjoyed, savored, or whatever the current cliche phrase is? "Stop and smell the roses." Yeah, shouldn't it be about that?

How does one appreciate life's simplicity? Is more contemplation the answer? Or perhaps, I shouldn't think about what I love, but DO what I love instead? Is it healthy to over think life?

I think there is a time to think and a time to do. We need both.

I look outside and I want to climb the pine tree in my front yard. Should I? Should I risk slipping or breaking a branch and then falling to my demise? Or should I be content to know I WANT to climb the tree. My heart is adventurous but my mind is practical...that's all that matters right?

So many random thoughts. So little time.

I think I need to balance my overly analytical self with my overly sarcastic self. I once mentioned this as the Yin/Yang theory...where a heavy dose of intellectualism is easily remedied by a heavy does of useless humor.

Useless humor. Yeah, that's what I need today.

Okay, here's a go at it: Top 10 things that make me laugh

#10 America' Funniest Home Videos (especially, the ones involving any combination of food, babies, pets, weddings, and/or bodily functions)

#9 tourists

#8 talent auditions on tv

#7 family feuds

#6 overpriced fashion

#5 teenie-bopper tabloids

#4 "wedgies"

#3 fortune cookies with VAGUE fortunes

#2 texting people within talking distance

#1 sports mascots

My time is up and so I must go. If you have endured to the end of this post, accept my apologies because it was completely useless...much like the picture below.

I love it to and the useless photo. That made me laugh so hard from some reason but you do look beautiful in it. Just the way you said it. . .I miss you Adrian! and I was thinking the same thing as Sheena and you made me want a piece of bread with lots of butter :)

Yo Adriane GO CLIMB THE TREE (and then take a "useless" picture for me!!)

What to eat (even though you said it's not what this is about). Chocolate Milk and some of my mom's rolls with lot's of butter. Wait Correction. . .change chocolate milk to HOMEMADE HOT COCOA mmmm. That way most of your list is covered! Forget the pickles and oysters. What is it with you and Bucky eating those things anyway :) Maybe since this is FOR YOU, add an onion on the side!

I love sept too. And from your view in the mountains I bet it is B-eautiful!

I have been drawn to AFHV lately. Lindsey and I will call each other and watch it at the same time. You should get on three way with us. Warning: We scream, we boo, we yelp, we ooh, we ahh, and we LAUGH! All of which is done very loudly. Just an FYI :)

Promise one last thing. I taught my kids the word wedgie last week. Good times. Good times!

I lied ONE MORE THING! Squash is my all time favorite vegetable. Always has been. Is that odd. I hope so :)

Anyway I was thinking you and I should do a squash cook off. If we lived closer it WOULD be iron chef style all the way. We don't. So it won't.

BUT we can still do a cook off and just send the GOOD recipes to each other. Not so much the failed recipes. I will warn you I don't measure, and I make it up as I go (rachael ray style if you will, with a little Emerill thrown in just so I can yell and cook at the same time!)

The end.

My parents didn't last long did they?! HA! Guess they aren't into trends LOL!

I would LOVE to live by all my cousins! A wilkins lane, like steed lane in the work and the glory.

I don't think I have ever had green chilies and squash. I do love just steamed, sauteed, or grilled mmmm. If we had webcam you could see me drooling right now!

So where's the picture of you in the tree :)

And FYI if we did live closer I would demand that we learn the singles ladies dance :) We need bucky too for that one. We could convince her to come to wilkins lane right?!
